Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and the Presidential team ("we", "us") for your use of Presidential (Presidential.app): the web game and website at presidential.app and the Presidential apps (together, "Presidential"). By using Presidential you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Presidential.

#1. The game

Presidential is a work of fiction and a strategy game. Countries, leaders, ministers, events, news, markets and treaties in Presidential are simulated. They do not describe, predict or endorse real people, governments, policies or events. Each country's starting figures come from public datasets (see Data sources). Nothing in Presidential is political, financial or legal advice.

#2. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age in your country, to use Presidential.
• You can play as a guest tied to your device or browser, or sign in with Google, Apple or an email link through Firebase Authentication. A guest account that was never signed in can't be recovered if you lose the device or clear your browser's data.
• You're responsible for activity on your account, your device and your browser, and for keeping your sign-in method secure.
• One person, one president: don't create accounts to manipulate worlds, votes, rankings or markets.

#3. Shared worlds

Presidential's worlds are persistent and shared. What you do affects other players, and the next president inherits the country you leave. We may reset, rebalance, pause or archive worlds, seats and seasons to keep the game fair and working.

#4. Your content and conduct

You keep ownership of what you write. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and process it to run Presidential, including filtering it, showing it to other players and, if you allow AI replies, sending it to AI providers to generate in-game replies (see the Privacy Policy).

You agree not to:

• harass, threaten, demean or impersonate anyone; post hate speech, sexual content, or content that promotes violence or self-harm
• share personal information about yourself or others
• spam, advertise, scam, or try to trade accounts or in-game positions for money
• cheat, exploit bugs, automate play, reverse engineer or overload the service
• break the law or anyone else's rights

Our Community Guidelines explain this in more detail. An automatic filter may refuse or mask text that breaks them. You can block players and report content in the game, and reports are reviewed by people. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or permanently ban accounts that break these terms or the Community Guidelines.

#5. AI-generated content

Some in-game text is generated by AI models: ministers, AI presidents, briefings and headlines. AI presidents are not real people, and they are labelled as AI in the game. AI text can be wrong, odd, inconsistent or, despite our filter, inappropriate; if you see something that breaks the Community Guidelines, report it. It is part of a game, not a statement of fact or our view. Don't rely on it for real-world decisions.

#6. Beta

During testing (including the web game's open beta and TestFlight), features may change, break or disappear, and game data may be reset. Your feedback helps, and we may use it without obligation to you.

#7. Our rights

Presidential and its software, design, names, logos and content (other than your content) belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Presidential for your own entertainment, under these terms and, for the iPhone app, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

#8. Termination

You can stop using Presidential and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account), even while your account is suspended. We may suspend your account, for a time or permanently, or end access if you break these terms or the Community Guidelines, or if we stop offering Presidential. If you think a suspension is a mistake, email support@presidential.app.

#9. Disclaimers and liability

Presidential is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data or game progress. Our total liability for any claim is limited to USD $50. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.

#10. Apple

This section applies if you use the Presidential app for iPhone. These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Presidential or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. You must also comply with the App Store's terms of service.

#11. Changes

We may update these terms. If changes are significant we'll tell you in the game. Continuing to use Presidential means you accept the updated terms.
