How seasons work

A season is a month.
The world never resets.

Every month a new season opens for everyone at once, on the calendar, at 00:00 UTC on the 1st. The standings start from zero and the awards are up for grabs. The countries, the eight billion people in them and everything you have built stay exactly as they are.

One rule to remember. A term counts for the month it ends. Take office on the 28th, finish on the 4th, and it scores in the next season.

Season 1October 20261 – 31 Oct 2026 · UTC

22 days to go, counting today. The last square ends at 00:00 UTC on the 1st.

Starts fresh every month

Resets on the 1st

How to win

From the oath to the top.

There is no sign-up to a season: you are in it the moment you finish a term. Four steps, and the month decides.

  1. Step 1

    Take a seat

Open the game and take the oath. It is free, in your browser, and you are handed one real country for a week.

  2. Step 2

    Finish a term

A term ends when its week is up, or when you hand over on time. It counts for the month it ends.

  3. Step 3

    Score legacy points

Your term is graded A to F and measured against the caretaker AI. Beat it and your points climb. A bad term takes points away.

  4. Step 4

    Climb the standings

Your season score is the sum of every term you finish this month. Be on top at the stroke of the 1st to be President of the Season.

  • Beat the machineSurviving is not enough: the points come from finishing ahead of the caretaker AI.
  • Finish what you startA term only scores once it ends, so a seat left half-played earns nothing yet.
  • Mind the calendarA term begun in the last week of the month lands in the next season. Plan your start.
  • Try new seatsDifferent countries, different problems, and a chance at Globetrotter.

Questions

Seasons, explained.

What is a season?

A calendar month, the same for every player in every world. Season 1 is October 2026, Season 2 is November, and so on. Each one has its own standings, its own awards and its own numbers.

When does it reset, exactly?

At 00:00 UTC on the 1st of the month. The countdown at the top of this page counts to that instant, and it shows the same moment in your own time zone.

Does my country, or my world, reset?

No. Only the standings, the awards and the season’s counters start again. The worlds keep running, with every country, every person and every storyline exactly where they were, and whoever takes a seat next inherits it as it stands.

My term runs across two months. Which season does it count for?

The one it ends in. A term is a week long, so take office on the 28th and finish on the 4th, and it scores in the next season. Plan your start accordingly.

Do I have to sign up for a season?

No. You are in the season the moment you finish a term in it. There is nothing to enter and nothing to miss: play a term and you are on the board.

Can I join halfway through?

Yes, any day. One good term is enough to land in the standings, and some awards, like Term of the Season, reward a single week.

Take a seat
What do the winners get?

Their name on the season’s page, for good, and the bragging rights that go with it. The page of a finished season is kept as the final result.

Who can see my name in the standings?

Only your public in-game handle, and only if your president page is public. Everyone else is ranked as “a private president”.
