Delete your account

Presidential lets you play as a guest, with no email or password, just your handle tied to your browser or phone. You can also sign in with Google, Apple or an email link, in which case we also keep your email address and a sign-in account identifier. You can delete your account, and the personal data that goes with it, at any time: in the game, or by email if you can't use it any more. This page covers Presidential in your browser (presidential.app), on iPhone and on Android.

#1. Delete it in the app

This is the quickest way, and it works even if your account is suspended.

1. Open Presidential: presidential.app/play in your browser, or the app.
2. Open Settings (in the app: tap your avatar at the top right of any tab, then the gear).
3. Scroll to the bottom, choose Delete account and confirm.

Your account is deleted on our servers straight away and the game returns to the welcome screen. If you sign in again later, you start as a brand-new president. Deleting can't be undone.

If your account is suspended, the "Account suspended" screen has its own Delete account button.

Removing the app from your phone, or clearing your browser's data, does not delete your account. Delete it in the game first, or email us.

#2. Ask us by email

If you've lost your phone, cleared your browser, removed the app or can't open the game, email support@presidential.app from any address with:

• the subject "Delete my account"
• your handle (for example @guest.1234) and, if you remember it, the country you governed

If you signed in, write from the email address you signed in with and we can find the account quickly. Guest accounts have no email or password, so we may ask a question or two to check the account is yours before we delete it. We reply to confirm, and we delete the account within 30 days of your request.

#3. What is deleted

• Your account: your handle, reputation and badges, your AI replies choice and any suspension record.
• Your sign-in details (if you signed in): the sign-in provider (Google, Apple or email link), your Firebase account identifier, your email address (including an Apple "Hide My Email" relay address) and whether it was verified.
• Your device identifier, so your browser or phone is no longer linked to Presidential.
• Your record: your presidential terms, your action history, your notifications and what you've read.
• Everything you wrote in conversations: every message you sent, in direct conversations and bloc channels, and the alerts that quoted your messages to other players.
• Your reports and blocks: the reports you filed, the players you blocked and any blocks against you.
• Your seat: if you're in office, your term ends and the country goes back to the caretaker cabinet.

All of this leaves our database when the deletion runs. Server logs that can contain your account ID are deleted within 30 days.

Web analytics. If you accepted analytics on presidential.app, the events and session replays already recorded in PostHog stay linked to your account ID and handle until they expire: events within 12 months, replays within 30 days. Email us if you'd like them deleted sooner. Deleting your account, or signing out, also stops the web game linking new analytics to you in that browser.

#4. What stays, without your name

Presidential's worlds are shared, and the next president inherits what you leave. So some game history stays, with your name taken off:

• Shared game history: the world feed and press, treaties and their names, the Hall of Presidents and each country's figures. Your handle is replaced with "Former president" everywhere it appears, and your account ID is removed.
• Your handoff note stays with the country you handed over, so your successor can still read it. It is signed "Former president".
• Other players' messages stay with them. Where they mention your handle, it now reads "Former president".
• Reports other players filed about you keep their reason, but your lines in them lose your name and their text. Like all reports, they are deleted after 12 months at most.

If the law requires us to keep something (for example, evidence of illegal content that was reported to the authorities), we keep it only for as long as the law requires.

#5. Delete some data, keep your account

• AI replies: turn them off in Settings → Privacy → AI replies. From then on, nothing you write is sent to the AI provider.
• Web analytics and session replays: turn them off with Privacy choices at the bottom of presidential.app, or in Settings → Privacy → Analytics & replays. To delete what was already recorded, email us.
• Blocks: unblock players in Settings → Blocked presidents.
• Anything else (for example, a message you sent): email support@presidential.app with your handle and what you'd like removed. We reply within 30 days.
